Scratch-made brownies are just as easy to prepare as those boxed brownies. The secrets to bakery-style brownies are quality chocolate and more, importantly technique. Learn how to achieve your preferred brownie consistency, and with a few basic ingredients, you can whip up a batch whenever you like!

We’ll taste 3 different brownie styles – fudgy, cakey and the supermarket boxed mix – then you’ll learn how to make your favorite brownie, from scratch! Everyone will take home their own warm, 8 x 8-inch pan of brownies as well as a scratch-made brownie mix, in case of brownie-mergencies! Recipes for fudgy and cakey brownie as well as the pantry brownie mix will be included.

The brownie class will be led by baker, Christine Hawks, owner of The Leavenry Bakehouse. Having learned to bake from her grandmother, Christine’s kitchen philosophy is to pair simple ingredients with well-executed techniques. Christine hopes to inspire others to start their own culinary traditions through hands-on exploration of recipes, ingredients, flavors and techniques. When she’s not in the kitchen, you’ll find Christine, at 1400 Food Lab, where she plans and manages the private and corporate events.
