Come and meet the hardest working members of our farm.             Honeybees.

That’s why we urge you to join us for an informative evening with speaker Dr. Jim Tew, Bee Expert and Emeritus Professor of Entomology at The Ohio State University.

In addition to bee keeping and bee culture, Dr. Tew will share his expertise on the crucial role of honeybees to the health our planet. He will discuss threats to honeybees and why the collapse of bee colonies could be devastating to our entire food chain, along with ways to protect healthy hives and bee sustainability.

CVI Chef Liaison Jamie Simpson and his team will serve a 6-course dinner celebrating our very own honeybees, the plants they pollinate, and the honey they produce.

Last year Chef Jamie managed 16 hives that produced 600 pounds of honey. We have ramped up our production to include 45 hives, providing a place to nurture healthy and productive honeybee colonies.

Honeybee fun fact: one worker bee produces ½ teaspoon of honey in its lifetime. A hive of bees must fly a total of 55,000 miles to and from the hive (equivalent to twice around the globe) and visit 2 million flowers to produce 1 pound of honey.

Employees of the year, for sure.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Dinner begins at 7:00 pm.
