Whether you need a new side dish when grilling at home or something different to take to your next socially distanced potluck, consider these twists on some classic summer salads.

The recipes were developed by some of the city's many fine food bloggers, and we're happy to point you in their direction. In addition to the salads we highlight here, they all have a variety of other recipes on their websites.

JALAPENO POPPER POTATO SALAD

Our first stop is The Spiffy Cookie, where Erin Vasicek invites you to enjoy two great side dishes in one: jalapeno poppers and potato salad. You can adjust the heat level by the amount of jalapeno you use. She calls it "the perfect BBQ side dish."

VEGAN MEXICAN PASTA SALAD

Food and travel are two of the primary interests of Malini Swank, and you'll find both on her Lakes and Lattes website. One of her recent posts is about a cold macaroni salad that is zesty and colorful and makes a great side dish for potlucks, picnics, and cookouts. She says this vegan dish will please meat-eaters and vegetarians alike.

PEACH CAPRESE SALAD

This salad, recommended by Christina Musgrave of Tasting with Tina, combines some of the best fresh elements of summer: tomatoes, peaches and fresh basil. The peaches add a bit of sweetness for a fresh twist on a caprese salad, and the whole thing takes only 10 minutes.
